Advanced Chiropractic Treatment for Spinal Conditions
Corrective chiropractic care is one of the most effective non-surgical treatments for spinal conditions affecting the lower back, neck, and nervous system. By restoring proper spinal movement and alignment, chiropractic care helps reduce nerve irritation, improve mobility, and support the body’s natural healing process.
At Strive Integrative Health in Brookfield, Wisconsin, our chiropractic approach focuses on identifying and correcting the underlying mechanical problems within the spine rather than simply masking symptoms.
Many patients come to our clinic suffering from conditions such as:
- Chronic low back pain
- Sciatica
- Herniated discs
- Degenerative disc disease
- Spinal stenosis
- Pinched nerves
Our goal is to restore proper spinal function so patients can move better, feel stronger, and return to the activities they enjoy.
What Is Corrective Chiropractic Care?
Corrective chiropractic care focuses on improving the movement and function of the spine. When spinal joints become restricted or misaligned, they can place abnormal stress on surrounding muscles, discs, and nerves.
Over time, this can lead to inflammation, pain, and reduced mobility.
Chiropractic adjustments help restore normal spinal motion by applying controlled force to specific joints. This helps:
- Restore joint mobility
- Reduce nerve irritation
- Improve spinal alignment
- Support healthy movement patterns
Unlike treatments that simply address symptoms, corrective chiropractic care focuses on improving the structural health of the spine.
How the Spine Affects the Nervous System
The spine protects the spinal cord and nerves that travel throughout the body. These nerves control many functions, including movement, sensation, and muscle coordination.
When spinal joints become restricted or misaligned, they may irritate nearby nerves and interfere with normal nerve communication. This can lead to symptoms such as:
- Back pain
- Leg pain
- Numbness or tingling
- Muscle weakness
- Reduced mobility
Correcting spinal dysfunction can help restore proper nerve function and reduce irritation within the nervous system.

Chiropractic Techniques Used at Strive Integrative Health in Brookfield, WI
At Strive Integrative Health, we use several advanced chiropractic techniques to deliver safe and effective adjustments tailored to each patient.
Palmer Package Technique
The Palmer Package refers to a group of chiropractic techniques originally developed through the Palmer chiropractic system. These techniques focus on restoring proper spinal biomechanics and improving nervous system function. Palmer-based techniques emphasize precision adjustments designed to improve joint mobility and reduce stress on surrounding tissues.
The Palmer Package is a compilation of techniques taught at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa- The birthplace of Chiropractic, and Dr. Jon and Dr. Kylee’s Alma Mater. Palmer Package Adjusting can be described as “Traditional Chiropractic Adjustments” or “Manual Adjusting”. These styles of adjusting can be described in more details as follows:
Diversified Technique
Diversified chiropractic technique is one of the most widely used adjustment methods in chiropractic care. This technique involves manual adjustments that use controlled force to restore proper joint movement. Diversified adjustments are designed to improve spinal alignment and relieve pressure on surrounding nerves.
This technique is the most used of all chiropractic techniques and is the one probably most familiar to patients. The Diversified adjustment entails a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust that usually results in a cavitation of a joint (quick, shallow thrusts that cause the popping noise often associated with a chiropractic adjustment).
Thompson Technique
This is a specific chiropractic method and is a variation of the Diversified technique that uses a special table with several segments called “drop pieces”. These segments can be cocked up a fraction of an inch, so when the thrust is delivered, the table will drop below the patient. The object of the drop is to distract (open) the joint during the adjustment. The drop pieces assists the thrust, while minimizing the force required for the adjustment. Cavitation of the joint may or may not occur.
Gonstead Technique
The Gonstead technique focuses on precise spinal analysis and targeted adjustments. This approach emphasizes identifying the exact spinal segment that is causing dysfunction. By delivering highly specific adjustments, the Gonstead method aims to restore optimal spinal movement while minimizing unnecessary stress on surrounding joints.
This is a specific chiropractic technique that is distinct from Diversified technique because it focuses primarily on P-A adjusting, rather than on rotary adjusting, but is still done by hand, and usually results in joint cavitation. X-ray analysis, palpation, and temperature gradient studies may be used in clinical decision-making.
Pulsestar Instrument Adjustments
Pulsestar technology uses a computerized instrument to deliver gentle, precise impulses to the spine. This instrument-assisted technique allows chiropractors to deliver consistent and controlled adjustments without the need for manual thrusts. Pulsestar adjustments may be particularly helpful for patients who prefer a low-force approach to chiropractic care.
The PulStar adjusting technique is quite different from the Tradition, or manual, adjusting. Although a different technique- the same goal, thus, the same great results are achieved. The goal of the adjustment is to restore proper motion and function to the spine, this in turn takes pressure off the nervous system resulting in your body functioning at a higher level and healing at a faster rate. The difference between the manual adjusting and PulStar adjusting is rather than using their hands to deliver the adjustment, the Doctor will use an instrument that will measure, analyze and deliver specific impulses into the spine to perform the adjustment. This technique will not cause any “popping” sounds during the adjustment. The PulStar provides an incredibly gentle adjustment that achieves phenomenal results! There are only 6 PulStar Machines in the state of Wisconsin!
The PulStar treatment offers:
- Safer diagnosis & treatment
- Quicker & more tangible results than conventional treatment options

Common Conditions We Treat with Chiropractic Care
Corrective chiropractic care is commonly used to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Common conditions treated include:
- Low back pain
- Sciatica
- Herniated discs
- Disc bulges
- Degenerative disc disease
- Spinal stenosis
- Pinched nerves
- SI joint dysfunction
Chiropractic care helps restore normal spinal mechanics, which can reduce stress on discs, joints, and nerves.
What to Expect During a Chiropractic Appointment
At Strive Integrative Health, each patient begins with a comprehensive consultation and examination. This process may include:
- Detailed health history
- Posture analysis
- Range of motion testing
- Orthopedic testing
- Neurological testing
- Digital X-rays when necessary
These evaluations help determine the underlying cause of the patient’s symptoms. Once the problem is identified, a personalized treatment plan is created. Chiropractic adjustments are then performed to restore proper spinal movement and reduce nerve irritation.
Chiropractic Care and Spinal Disc Health
Spinal discs rely on movement to receive nutrients and maintain hydration. When spinal joints become restricted, the discs may experience increased stress and reduced circulation.
Chiropractic adjustments help restore normal movement in the spine, which can improve circulation around the discs and reduce pressure on spinal structures. This is particularly beneficial for conditions such as:
- Disc Herniations
- Disc Bulges
- Degenerative Disc Disease
Improving spinal mobility helps support the long-term health of spinal discs.
Chiropractic Care and Nerve Pain
Many patients experience nerve-related symptoms such as:
- Sciatica
- Tingling in the legs
- Numbness in the feet
- Burning pain down the leg
These symptoms often occur when spinal nerves become compressed or irritated. Corrective chiropractic care focuses on improving spinal mechanics and reducing pressure on affected nerves. Relieving this pressure may help reduce nerve irritation and improve mobility.
Chiropractic Care as Part of a Comprehensive Treatment Plan
At Strive Integrative Health, chiropractic care is often combined with other therapies to achieve the best outcomes. These treatments may include:
- Spinal decompression therapy
- Focused shockwave therapy
- Red light therapy
- Corrective exercises
By combining therapies, we can address multiple aspects of spinal health and support long-term recovery.

Common Conditions We Treat With Corrective Chiropractic at Strive Chiropractic in Brookfield, WI
Disc Herniation
Disc herniation occurs when the soft inner material of a spinal disc protrudes through a tear in the tougher outer layer, potentially pressing on nearby nerves. This can lead to pain, numbness, or weakness in the affected area, often in the back or limbs.
Sciatica
Sciatica is characterized by sharp pain along the sciatic nerve, starting in the lower back and radiating through the hips, buttocks, and legs. It can stem from conditions like herniated discs or spinal stenosis, often accompanied by numbness or weakness. It’s often caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, usually due to a herniated disc, bone spur, spinal stenosis, or muscle inflammation. The pain may vary from a mild ache to a sharp, burning sensation and can sometimes be accompanied by numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness in the affected leg.
Piriformis Syndrome
Piriformis syndrome is a neuromuscular condition where the piriformis muscle irritates or compresses the sciatic nerve. The piriformis muscle is a small, flat muscle that helps rotate the hip and leg outward. When it becomes tight or spasms, it can press against the sciatic nerve, causing pain that radiates down the leg, similar to sciatica. This can cause leg pain, numbness, and tingling. It often arises from prolonged sitting, excessive running, or injury. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for relief.
Radiation Pain Down Leg
Caused by a herniated disc, sciatica, Piriformis Syndrome, spinal stenosis, skeletal issues, or injury.

Tingling In The Legs
Tingling in the legs can be caused by a range of conditions, often involving nerve compression, damage, or circulatory issues. Some common causes include nerve compression, sciatica, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, neuropathy, conditions like Meralgia Paresthetica (compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve) cause tingling in the outer thigh, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in the lower back or pelvis area, Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Restless Leg Syndrome
Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), also referred to as Willis-Ekbom Disease, is a neurological disorder that leads to an overwhelming desire to move the legs. This condition often comes with unpleasant sensations, such as tingling or crawling feelings. These sensations are often described as tingling, crawling, itching, throbbing, or pulling, and they usually worsen during periods of inactivity, especially in the evening or at night, which can disrupt sleep.
Tail Bone Pain
Tailbone pain can be the result of trauma or injury, childbirth, degenerative joint or disc disease, poor posture, obesity or rapid weight loss, nerve compression or muscle spasms, anatomical abnormalities, or other health conditions. See how the Brookfield chiropractors at Strive Integrative Health can help!
Sacro-iliac Joint -SI Joint Syndrome
The SI joint is mostly held in place by strong ligaments and only allows a small amount of movement, typically to absorb shock between the upper body and the pelvis and legs. However, issues with the SI joint can lead to pain, which is often felt in the lower back, buttocks, or down the leg.
